As a nurse, businesswomen, mayor, wife and mother of a son with special needs, as a cancer survivor and a lifelong community activist and volunteer, Churchill has made both measurable and immeasurable contributions to the local and broader community at all levels and particularly in the context of individuals and families struggling with severe medical and social challenges. Churchill’s impact includes being a founding member of the Autism Society of NL, a driving force in the establishment of the Elaine Dobbin Centre for Autism in St. John’s, and a role as president of the Autism Society (1997-2010).
