Margaret (Muggs) Tibbo has contributed significantly to the volunteer sector for almost forty years. From being a founding member of the Avalon Woodturners Guild to being part of the Mission Staff for several Winter Paralympics, her involvement spans all levels; local, provincial, national and international. While the list of organizations she supported is long and varied, Muggs is known by most for her passion towards shaping a more inclusive sporting community. Her first foray into the Sport volunteer world for persons with a disability was with the Canadian Association for Disabled Skiing (CADS) as the Newfoundland & Labrador Representative. Over a period of 37 years she has held positions on the Board and the Executive.

She was Manager of the Canadian Para Nordic Ski Team for 15 years and was part of the Mission Staff for the Winter Paralympics, World Championships, World Cups and National competitions. She was part of the Para Nordic and Para Alpine Demonstration Events at the Calgary ’88 Olympics.

Margaret is the Director of Para Nordic Skiing with Cross Country NL, the Para Athlete Director with Pearlgate Track and Field Club, a founding Board Member and current Vice-President with Rainbow Riders Therapeutic Riding, and the President and founding member of Parasport NL. Muggs introduced Para Ice Hockey, formerly known as Sledge Hockey to Newfoundland. At her recommendation, the Children’s Rehabilitation Centre purchased ice sledges and Para Ice Hockey was born in this province!

From co-writing Instruction manuals, modifying equipment, and doing provincial tours to train para swim coaches and instructors, Margaret somehow also finds time to Coach and Referee
